It was time to put my pack on, ties up my boots, and prepare my kit for an expedition to summit Mt. Superbus, and then walk 150km to Main Beach on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Mt. Superbus is the tallest mountain in South Queensland. It stands and 1372m, which is suprisingly high due to its location. Located on the Southern Tip of Main Range National Park, it is home to some of the most rugged, steep and arduous bushwalking in Queensland and Australia.

I was soon to find out that Mt Superbus was no exception to the above description, I had massively underestimated how hard the climb was. Not only was it steep and rugged, it was also dense, luckily I had a quality machete from www.filipinobolo.com to help me out with clearing a route through some of the secondary rainforest I encountered along the route.

Luckily when ever I slipped, the dense vegetation acted as a handy brake to stop us from plunging 50ft off a cliff.

After a successful ascent and descent, I found myself with a long 5 days ahead of me filled with lots of road walking.

The first 2 days were very similar, but not at all in a bad way, I was in the Scenic Rim, the most stunning part of Queensland. Some of the mountains I walked past were awe-inpiringly stunning, and it was somewhat entertaining to make an exchange of 'moos' at all of the cows I walked past.

Day 3 had come, I was pumped. It looked like I had found a break in the road walking, and had instead found myself walking on a dirt track, and then eventually no track. This was the day I found out that it is a bad idea to do all of your navigation by google maps on the phone. Indeed, I was lost. Google Maps said that there was a road going along Allen Creek, Google Maps was wrong. Instead I found myself walking in a creek in occasional waist deep water. It was slow, I was worried that I wouldn't make to the point where I had intended to finish. So I ran. Bad Idea. I ran over a Snake without even knowing about it until my foot had landed over it. I'm not sure on what species it was, but it was brown, which is never a good sign. I decided to walk at a healthy pace instead.

The sun had set, I had found a road on the other side of the valley and was making good time. I walked for about another hour and reached the point where I had originally planned to reach.

Day 4 was the last day in the Scenic Rim, so I made sure i soaked up every last bit of scenery it had to offer, even if it it were on the side of a busy highway. I had made it to a town called Canungra by the end of the day. The last night...

I had a decent 35km to walk to Main Beach, this was an unpleasant walk. Through the industrial centre of the Gold Coast I walked, all that was in my mind was the Pacific ocean. And it eventually came. I ran, I was excited, I was happy, relieved, the list goes on.
